Pallet Film
Blown
Blown contains additives
that provide excellent cling
and load stability and can be
noisy when coming off the roll.
Recommended for irregular
loads or use in
cold stores.
Cast
The high-strength 昀椀lm that
only sticks to itself. Silent
unwind and excellent tear and
puncture resistance. Clearer
than blown 昀椀lm allowing for a
clear identi昀椀cation of
products through
the 昀椀lm.
Pre-stretched
The 昀椀lm is pre-stretched in the
manufacturing process, which
can increase the 昀椀lm strength,
improve load stability, reduce
waste and is
effortless to apply.
Performance
Selecting a stretch 昀椀lm that provides the right yield strength and performance for the loads being
wrapped is crucial. The yield strength denotes the amount of stress a stretch 昀椀lm can withstand without
permanently having plastic deformation. Prior to reaching the yield point a stretch 昀椀lm will elastically
deform but return to its original shape once the stress is removed.

Time, use & cost in use
Hand wrapping is best suited for smaller or periodic stretch 昀椀lm wrapping requirements. Also,
consider using 500mm width roll rather than a 400mm, reducing the time taken and the number
of wrap rotations. Introducing machine wrapping may ultimately save more time, resources and
packaging materials.
Overlapping
This is a technique for covering the top of your pallet using polythene top sheets. This protects
your products and secures load with a downward force. When overlapping hand-applied 昀椀lms, it
is recommended users allow up to a 50% overlap.
Neckdown
This happens when a 昀椀lm loses its dispensing roll width and narrows down while being stretched.
Neckdown reduces the coverage each wrap provides, thereby making it likely that more wrap
rotations and more 昀椀lm will be needed to wrap a load or pallet. By using a pre-stretched 昀椀lm, the
neckdown is considerably reduced.
Load Characteristics
Consider the products being wrapped, also look at the load
weight (typically per pallet), the load pro昀椀le, and the transit
process the load will experience.
